Rick Waxman
I met the producer of WHO IS FLOYD STEARN?, Rick Waxman in kindergarten when we were five years old. We went to first, second and third grade together, and I figured out once that he may have actually seen, if not met, the actual Floyd Stearn one day in the schoolyard. In fact, Rick and I were extras together in the third grade class play. They called us Men of the Court. So when it came time to write and create the show I thought of no one else to produce it Off-Broadway other than Rick. I woke up at 4am one night in Los Angeles and wrote him a thirteen page handwritten letter explaining why it would be good for him to produce, even though he was content being an excellent treasurer on Broadway. One thing was certain: I trusted him completely and that peace of mind was worth everything to me, even though Rick had never produced a thing other than two beautiful children. It didn’t matter to me because Rick was always a great friend, son, brother, husband, father, boss, and a two-time Most Valuable Player in the Broadway Show League pitching softball in spite of two back surgeries. In other words, I went with Rick’s character because I learned early on that character dictates plot. Well, the rest is history. For starters, we named our company Men of the Court Productions. - Michael Raynor
